Ralf von Appen

Ralf von Appen serves as Professor of Theory and History of Popular Music and Head of the Institute of Popular Music at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw), where he has established himself as a leading European scholar in popular music studies through editorial leadership and institutional roles including chairman of the Society for Popular Music Research (2008-2020).
