Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ralf Schuler serves as Professor for Mechatronic Systems at Esslingen University of Applied Sciences since 2014. He heads the Steinbeis Transfer Center Model-based Systems Engineering (STZ-mbe), coordinates the Automotive Systems Master's program, and serves on the Foreign Affairs Committee. His professional affiliations include the Society for Systems Engineering (GfSE) and the Association of German University Teachers (hlb).
His academic credentials include mechanical engineering studies at Augsburg University of Applied Sciences and Missouri University of Science and Technology (1990-1996), postgraduate work in mechatronic systems at Technical University of Darmstadt (1997-1999), and completion of his Dr.-Ing. doctorate at the University of Stuttgart in 2007.
Ralf Schuler's research centers on Automotive Systems Engineering with emphasis on Mechatronic Vehicle Systems and Model-based Systems Engineering. His industry background at Daimler AG and Robert Bosch GmbH informs his work in powertrain systems, hybrid drives, and electric vehicles, with current expansion into autonomous driving systems. He bridges theoretical frameworks with industrial applications through systems engineering methodologies.
He teaches foundational and advanced courses including Motor Vehicles, Automotive Systems, and Systems Engineering for Autonomous Driving.
