Rala Diakite is a Professor in the School of Arts and Sciences at Fitchburg State University, specializing in medieval Italian literature and digital humanities. She teaches Italian language courses (ITAL 1000-3100) and French (FREN 1100), alongside conducting research on Dante's poetry and 14th-century Florentine chronicles.
- PhD and MA in Italian Studies from Brown University
- B.A. in Modern Languages from Trinity College
Her research focuses on the intersection of medieval texts with digital culture, including work on Giovanni Villani's chronicle through the Virtual Humanities Lab. She is currently translating and annotating Villani's text while exploring gender roles within his historical accounts.
