Rakibul Sarker serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Petroleum Engineering & Geology at Marietta College since 2012, teaching core courses including Reservoir Engineering, Well Testing, and Energy to Power Our World across both fall and spring semesters.
His academic credentials include:
- Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering
- Master of Science in Petroleum Engineering
- Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering
Dr. Sarker's research focuses on petroleum engineering fundamentals with expertise in reservoir characterization, well testing methodologies, and enhanced oil recovery techniques. He investigates hydrocarbon phase behavior and petrophysical properties to optimize extraction efficiency while integrating scientific computing for advanced reservoir simulation. His course Energy to Power Our World demonstrates applied engagement with contemporary energy systems.
He maintains active professional memberships in the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). Prior to Marietta College, Dr. Sarker conducted research at Texas Tech University and the Department of Energy's National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL), and taught petroleum engineering courses at multiple universities internationally.
