Professor Rakesh Mishra is a distinguished academic and researcher in the field of engineering at the University of Huddersfield. He serves as a Professor of Fluid Dynamics and Head of Research for the Department of Engineering and Technology, co-directing the Centre for Thermofluids, Energy Systems, and High-Performance Computing. His roles include coordinating UoA12 (Engineering) and contributing to the School of Computing and Engineering.
With a career spanning over three decades, he has held academic positions at institutions in India, including MNNIT Allahabad and IIT Delhi, before joining the University of Huddersfield in 2000. His expertise spans fluid dynamics, renewable energy systems, aerodynamics, and digital twin technologies. He leads the 'Energy Emission and Environmental Research Group' and contributes to IMechE-accredited engineering courses.
Research interests include additive manufacturing, multiphase flow systems, wind energy, and smart home technologies. He has authored over 200 publications and secured grants for projects involving renewable energy, oil and gas systems, and smart control valves. Awards include Fellowships from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and the Higher Education Academy.
His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in clean energy and climate action. Collaborations with industries and academic institutions globally further highlight his contributions to applied research and knowledge transfer.
