Rajveer Nehra is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, with adjunct roles in the Department of Physics and Manning College of Information and Computer Sciences. He earned his Ph.D. in Atomic and Molecular Physics from the University of Virginia and an Integrated BS-MS from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Mohali. His research focuses on scalable quantum information processing systems in nanophotonics, emphasizing ultrafast operations at room temperature for applications in quantum computation, secured networks, and sensing.
Key research areas include quantum optics, non-Gaussian state engineering, and photonic quantum technologies. His work has led to innovations in lithium niobate nanophotonics, ultrafast detection, and loss-tolerant sensing. Dr. Nehra has been recognized with awards such as the Outstanding Graduate Research Award and the Allan Talbott Gwathmey Memorial Award for his doctoral contributions.
His lab collaborates across disciplines, mentoring students in ECE, Physics, and Materials Science. Current projects explore all-optical quantum processors, cavity-based memories, and nanophotonic deep learning functions. The group maintains close ties with institutions like Caltech, the University of Tokyo, and Mount Holyoke College.
