Rajeshwari Dutt

Rajeshwari Dutt is an Assistant Professor of History at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi. She holds a Ph.D. in History from Carnegie Mellon University (2012), where she specialized in 19th-century Yucatán and Belize. Her research focuses on race, ethnicity, and governance in colonial borderlands.

Research interests include redefining Latin American Studies to include non-traditional regions like Belize, colonial administration dynamics, and indigenous leadership roles. She emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to borderland studies.

Publications: Two monographs exploring Maya caciques in Yucatán and British colonial governance in Belize during the Caste War era. Current work continues to examine frontier empires and marginalized communities.
