Raj Mukherjee

Raj Mukherjee is an Associate Professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine with appointments in the Department of Neurological Surgery, Oncology, Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and Radiation Oncology. He serves as Director of Neurosurgical Oncology at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and leads the Meningioma and Metastatic Brain Tumor Centers. He is also Assistant Program Director of the Neurosurgery Residency Program.

Dr. Mukherjee’s research is centered on improving outcomes for patients with brain and skull base tumors through patient-centered care, health services research, and surgical innovation. His work spans big data analytics, clinical trial design, quality-of-life assessment, and disparities in neurosurgical care. He directs the Neuro-Oncology Surgical Outcomes Laboratory, where his team develops national registries, patient-reported outcome tools, and AI-driven risk models.

His recent publications reflect a strong focus on meningiomas, glioblastoma, surgical outcomes, and health policy. Themes include value-based care, genomic profiling, clinical trial methodology, and equity in neurosurgery. His work often involves large-scale data analysis and interdisciplinary collaboration.

He leads the Neuro-Oncology Surgical Outcomes Laboratory, which focuses on database development, patient-centered outcomes, and surgical innovation. The lab collaborates with national networks and contributes to initiatives like the NeuroPoint Alliance. His team also explores video-based coaching and surgical instrumentation design.
