Rainis Haller is a Professor of Mathematical Analysis at the University of Tartu since 2021. He holds a PhD (2002) and MSc (1998) from the University of Tartu, with postdoctoral training at Wrocław University (2003-2004). His research focuses on functional analysis, particularly Banach space geometry, Lipschitz functions, and operator theory. He has led multiple projects, including the current 'Plasticity and extremal geometric structure of the unit ball of Banach spaces' (2023-2027). Haller has supervised numerous PhD and MSc students and received awards such as the Arnold Humal Prize (2002) and the University of Tartu Decoration (2017).
- Education: BSc (1996), MSc (1998), PhD (2002) in Mathematics from the University of Tartu.
- Key Projects: PRG1901 (2023-2027), IUT20-57 (2014-2019), and others focusing on Banach space structure and applications.
His research interests include diameter two properties, Daugavet and Delta-points, and geometric aspects of Banach spaces. Over 15 peer-reviewed articles since 2019 highlight contributions to Lipschitz spaces, operator theory, and functional analysis. Administrative roles include coordinating the Estonian Doctoral School in Mathematics and Statistics (2009–present) and serving as President of the Estonian Mathematical Society (2018–2022).
