Rafael Luévano is an Associate Professor of Religious Studies at Wilkinson College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, Chapman University. His research focuses on mysticism, spiritual memory, theodicy at the border, and responses to narco-violence in Mexico. He teaches courses on mysticism and religions in the arts.
- Education: Ph.D./S.T.D. in Theology from Radboud University Nijmegen, S.T.L. from Gregorian Pontifical University, Master of Divinity and Bachelor of Arts from Saint John's Seminary.
His notable works include Endless Transforming Love: An Interpretation of the Mystical Doctrine of Saint John of the Cross (1990) and Woman-Killing in Juárez: Theodicy at the Border (2012). Recent publications analyze pandemic death narratives and co-edited volumes on public sociology.
