Dr. Rafael Guimaraes da Silva is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Biology, University of St Andrews. His research focuses on enzymatic mechanisms, particularly in bacterial histidine and 5-aminolevulinic acid biosynthesis, and human protein histidine phosphorylation. He employs biochemistry and physical chemistry techniques to study transition-state structures and protein dynamics in catalysis.
