Raeni is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Accounting at the Birmingham Business School, University of Birmingham. She holds a PhD in Accounting from the same institution and is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA) in the UK.

Raeni's research centers on developing accountability frameworks for climate change, with a strong focus on climate finance. Her work integrates governance, environmental, ethical, and social dimensions, emphasizing transparency, traceability, and participatory approaches to sustainable development. She actively engages stakeholders through collaborative research and public outreach, particularly with underprivileged communities in Indonesia.
The recent publications reflect a consistent trend in environmental accountability and climate finance, combining innovative financial mechanisms (such as Islamic funds) with inclusive, community-driven approaches to decarbonization and sustainable mobility.
Her scholarly contributions have been recognized with the Rob Gray Emerging Scholar Award and the Reg Mathews Memorial Prize from CSEAR UK. She also serves as an expert reviewer for the upcoming Global Environmental Outlook by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and as an ad-hoc reviewer for journals like the Social and Environmental Accountability Journal.
Raeni is involved in mentoring and public engagement, particularly focused on empowering underprivileged youth in Indonesia. She teaches across BSc, MSc, and MBA programmes, aligning her pedagogy with her research interests. She invites PhD applications in accounting for climate change, climate finance, climate-related financial disclosures, and public sector accounting.
Her current projects include supporting inclusive, low-carbon public transport in Indonesia through the UK PACT project (2022–2025) and contributing as an Expert Reviewer for UNEP’s Global Environmental Outlook on transformation pathways for economic systems.
