Radenka Maric is the UConn President’s CT Clean Energy Fund Professor of Sustainable Energy in the Department of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Connecticut’s College of Engineering. She holds a Ph.D. from Kyoto University, Japan, and specializes in advanced materials for energy systems, particularly fuel cells, batteries, and hydrogen generation technologies. Her research focuses on nanomaterials, thin film coatings, and low-temperature solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) technologies to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Her professional affiliations include memberships in the American Chemical Society, Materials Research Society, and Electrochemical Society. Notable awards include the AAAS Fellowship (2019), NAI Fellow (2019), and recognition as a Best Young Woman Scientist in Japan (1996). She has advised numerous graduate students and contributed to over 150 peer-reviewed publications, advancing catalyst design, electrolyzer systems, and thin film deposition techniques like Reactive Spray Deposition Technology (RSDT).
Maric’s work spans academic and industrial collaborations, including leadership roles at the National Research Council Canada and nGimat. She currently leads research initiatives in Connecticut, focusing on sustainable energy innovations and clean hydrogen production. Her labs and teams at UConn are equipped with cutting-edge facilities for material synthesis, electrochemical testing, and advanced characterization.
