Professor Raci TAŞCIOĞLU is a distinguished academic at Atatürk University's Faculty of Communication, Department of Public Relations and Publicity. Currently serving as a full Professor since 2018, he has previously held positions as Associate Professor (2012-2018) and Assistant Professor (2011-2012). He has served two terms as Vice Dean of the Faculty of Communication (2013-2014 to 2019-2020) and currently heads the Department of Public Relations and Publicity since December 2020.
His educational background includes a Doctorate from Ankara University (2007), a Master's degree from Ege University (2000), and undergraduate studies at Ege University's Faculty of Communication (1995). His academic journey began as a Research Assistant at Atatürk University in 1998.
Professor TAŞCIOĞLU's research spans multiple dimensions of communication studies with particular emphasis on political communication, public relations, and media history. His work explores the intersection of politics and media, examining election campaigns, political advertising strategies, and the evolution of communication practices in Turkey. He has made significant contributions to understanding how political actors utilize various media forms to construct narratives and influence public opinion across different historical periods.
His recent scholarly output demonstrates a clear trajectory toward contemporary digital communication challenges, with increasing focus on social media's role in political communication, generational differences in political engagement (particularly with Generation Z), and the impact of emerging technologies like deepfakes on political discourse. His publications reveal a methodological diversity incorporating semiotic analysis, qualitative research, and historical examination of communication practices.
Professor TAŞCIOĞLU has supervised an extensive number of graduate theses, demonstrating his commitment to academic mentorship. His supervised works cover diverse topics including political communication strategies, social media usage in political campaigns, strategic communication in public diplomacy, and representation of gender in political contexts. His academic leadership extends to serving on various university committees including the Senate, Faculty Board, and Executive Board.
He has been actively involved in numerous academic projects and conferences, contributing to the scholarly community through editorial roles in journals such as İletişim ve Toplum Araştırmaları Dergisi and Gümüşhane Üniversitesi İletişim Fakültesi Elektronik Dergisi.
