Rachele Scuro is a Research Fellow at the Department of Humanities, Ca' Foscari University of Venice, specializing in medieval and early modern economic/social history with a focus on Venice, Jewish communities, and hydraulic systems.
- Education: PhD in "Medieval History and Archaeology, Institutions and Archives" (University of Siena); Diploma in Archival Studies, Paleography, and Diplomatics (State Archives of Venice); Master's in Digital Humanities.
Her research explores:
- Medieval/early modern Venetian economic systems
- Jewish communities in Italy and the Mediterranean
- Hydraulic resource management in pre-industrial Europe
- Archival and digital humanities methodologies
Recent publications analyze Venetian water governance, Jewish ghettos, and religious confraternities. She teaches History of Venice at the School for International Education and contributes to the ERC-funded Water-Cultures project (2018-2025), examining environmental, institutional, and economic interactions in the Venetian Mainland State.
