Rachel Z Feldman is an Assistant Professor of Religion at Dartmouth College, affiliated with the Arts & Sciences Faculty. Her research focuses on the anthropology of Judaism, messianic movements, digital religion, and gender studies in contemporary Israel/Palestine.
Education:
- B.A., Franklin and Marshall College
- M.A., The New School for Social Research
- Ph.D., University of California, Davis
Research Interests: Dr. Feldman examines transnational religious practices, digital media’s role in globalizing Jewish movements, and the intersection of settler-colonialism and indigeneity in the West Bank. Her work combines ethnographic fieldwork in Jerusalem, Montreal, and Côte d'Ivoire with critical analysis of political theologies.

- Jordan Schnitzer First Book Award (2023)
- National Endowment for the Fellowship (2025)
Grants & Projects: Funded by the National Science Foundation and the Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture. Currently researching Breslov Hasidism’s global Francophone communities and conducting fieldwork in three continents.
Labs/Teams: Engaged in collaborative ethnographic projects exploring religious geographies and settler-indigeneity dynamics in contested regions.
