Rachel Smith

Rachel Smith is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Chemistry and Physics at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke (UNCP). She serves as Co-Principal Investigator for the UNCP COMPASS2 NSF S-STEM Scholarship program.

• Education: B.S. in Chemistry from Wake Forest University; M.S. and Ph.D. in Chemistry (specializing in synthetic organic chemistry) from Brandeis University, Waltham, MA.

Research & Academic Leadership: Dr. Smith’s expertise spans chemistry education and synthetic organic chemistry research. Her leadership role involves overseeing academic programs and research initiatives within the department.
