Rachel Sagner Buurma is an Associate Professor in the Department of English Literature at Swarthmore College. Her research spans eighteenth- and nineteenth-century literature, print culture, the history of the novel, and the intersection of literary studies with digital humanities. She co-authored The Teaching Archive: A New History for Literary Study (2021), which re-examines the origins of literary criticism in diverse educational settings. Her teaching includes courses like The Rise of the Novel (and the Rise of Social Media) and a Victorian Novel Research Seminar.
