Rachel Nosheny, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in Psychiatry with a joint appointment in Radiology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), and holds an Associate Professor in Residence title. She is affiliated with the UCSF Weill Institute for Neurosciences and the School of Medicine. Her research focuses on Alzheimer's disease, cognitive decline, and neuroimaging, with a particular emphasis on improving recruitment and retention in underrepresented populations through digital platforms like the Brain Health Registry (BHR).
Education: Dr. Nosheny earned a BA in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania (1997), a PhD in Neuroscience from Georgetown University (2006), and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Neuroscience at Stanford University (2011).
Research Interests: Her work spans Alzheimer's disease biomarkers, remote cognitive assessments, and enhancing diversity in clinical trials. She leads initiatives to develop smartphone-based tools (e.g., Mobile Toolbox) for assessing memory and executive function, and has contributed to the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) to advance early detection and treatment strategies.
