Rachel Lynn Mindrup is an Associate Professor of Drawing and Painting and holds the Richard L. Deming, MD Endowed Chair in Medical Humanities at Creighton University's College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Fine & Performing Arts. She earned a BFA from the University of Nebraska - Kearney, completed atelier studies at the Art Academy of Los Angeles, and received an MFA from the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University.
Her research explores the intersection of art and medicine through figurative portraiture, focusing on themes of healing and identity. Her ongoing project "Many Faces of Neurofibromatosis (NF)" documents individuals with NF across all 50 U.S. states to advocate for federal research funding, inspired by her son's diagnosis. This work examines how portraiture can reshape medical narratives and patient identity.
