Rachel Bezanson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Pittsburgh, part of the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences. Her research focuses on the evolution of massive galaxies through cosmic time, combining observations from ground and space-based telescopes such as Keck, Hubble, and the James Webb Space Telescope. She leads the LEGA-C survey and co-leads the UNCOVER Treasury program, studying galaxy formation, quenching, and structural evolution. She has advised multiple graduate and undergraduate students, including David Setton and Yasha Kaushal.
Her awards include the NSF CAREER Grant (2022) and Cottrell Scholar Award (2021). Her team at Pitt includes researchers Brett Andrews, Sedona Price, and Yunchong Zhang, among others. Current projects include planning for the Subaru PFS spectroscopic survey and leveraging JWST data to study early galaxies.
