Rachael Starbuck

Rachael Starbuck is Adjunct Professor of Art at Carnegie Mellon University's School of Art. Her artistic practice explores connections through tactile communication and intimacy across distance, creating fluid sculptures and video installations sensitive to their environments.

As co-founder of the nomadic curatorial project Partial Shade and founding member of MATERIAL GIRLS collective, she engages in collaborative art-making. Her work has been exhibited internationally at venues including ArtPace, Sweet Pass Sculpture Park, and Chiang Mai University.

Professor Starbuck holds an MFA from University of Texas at Austin and BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University. She has completed residencies at Shandanken: Storm King, Bunker Projects, and Wassaic Project, developing sculptural works that investigate embodiment and relational aesthetics.
