Rachael Davies

Rachael Davies is a Research Fellow at the Research Centre for Dance Research, Coventry University. She holds roles as Assistant Editor of Choreographic Practices Journal and Communications Assistant for the AHRC-funded 'Dance Research Matters Networks Mapping Project'. Her doctoral research (2020–2024), supported by a Midlands4Cities studentship, focused on Chisenhale Dance Space in the 1980s through a cultural materialist lens, employing Raymond Williams’ concept of 'structure of feeling'.

• Education: PhD in Dance Studies from Midlands4Cities (2020–2024)
• Teaching: Lecturer at Coventry University and Guest Lecturer at University of the Arts London (2022–2023) and University of Roehampton (2021).
• Curatorial Work: Exhibitions on the X6 Collective (2020) and Cycles Dance Company (2021), plus a screening program at Chisenhale (2022).

Her research interests include materialist methodologies in dance analysis, oral history projects, and the British New Dance Movement (1977–1988). She has received grants such as the Ivor Guest Research Grant (2022) and Jonathan Ruffer Curatorial Grant (2020).
