RENATO FILIPE DA COSTA RODRIGUES GUIMARÃES

Renato Guimarães is a Researcher at the Textile Science and Technology Center, University of Minho, specializing in environmental technology and waste valorization. He completed his PhD (2023), Master's (2016), and Bachelor's (2012) in Environmental Science and Technology at the University of Porto's Faculty of Sciences.

His research focuses on:

• Valorization of industrial byproducts (cork/coal ash)
• Recovery of critical metals (titanium, rare earths)
• Carbon capture via mineral carbonation
• Soil remediation using biochar
• Circular economy applications for waste streams

Publications emphasize waste characterization, metal recovery techniques, and CO₂ mitigation strategies, with consistent focus on cork ash applications since 2018. He leads global research on cork ash utilization.
