RECEP YUMRUTAŞ

Professor RECEP YUMRUTAŞ is a distinguished academic at Gaziantep University's Faculty of Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering, where he has served as a Professor since 2015. His academic journey at Gaziantep University spans over three decades, progressing from Research Assistant (1988-1998) to Doctor Lecturer (1998-2009), Associate Professor (2009-2015), and ultimately to Professor. In addition to his teaching and research responsibilities, he has held significant administrative positions including Dean, Vocational School Director, and Vice Rector (2020-2024).

Professor Yumrutaş received his Doctorate from both Gaziantep University and Süleyman Demirel University (1994-1998), his Master's degree from Gaziantep University (1988-1991), and his Bachelor's degree from Middle East Technical University (1984-1988). His educational background laid the foundation for his specialization in mechanical engineering with a focus on thermal systems and energy.

His research interests center on mechanical engineering with particular emphasis on thermal energy systems, renewable energy technologies, heat transfer phenomena, building energy efficiency, solar energy applications, organic Rankine cycles, and waste heat recovery systems. Professor Yumrutaş has made significant contributions to understanding the thermal performance of building elements, solar-assisted heat pump systems, and energy-efficient building materials. His work bridges theoretical modeling with experimental validation, addressing practical energy challenges in both industrial and residential contexts.

An analysis of his recent publications reveals a strong focus on sustainable energy solutions, particularly in the areas of solar thermal systems, organic Rankine cycles for waste heat recovery, and building energy efficiency. His research demonstrates a consistent trajectory toward developing practical, energy-efficient technologies with real-world applications. Notably, his work on thermal energy storage integration with renewable energy systems has gained significant attention in the energy research community.

Professor Yumrutaş has successfully supervised numerous graduate students, with 8 doctoral dissertations and 17 master's theses completed under his guidance. His research has been supported by various national funding agencies including TÜBİTAK and university research funds, with 13 completed research projects spanning topics from solar energy systems to waste heat recovery and building energy efficiency.

He is an active member of both the Mechanical Engineers Association and the Installation Engineering Association since 1998, demonstrating his commitment to professional development and contribution to the engineering community. His teaching portfolio includes advanced courses in heat transfer, solar energy, thermal energy conversion, and natural gas technology at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
