RAFAŁ RACHWAŁ

RAFAŁ RACHWAŁ serves as an Assistant Professor at the Academy of Music in Poznań within the Institute of Instrumental Studies, specializing in saxophone performance and chamber music instruction. His dual role as research and teaching faculty drives his artistic-scholarly contributions to instrumental studies.

He earned his doctorate from the IJ Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań under Bernard Steuer and Magdalena Jakubska-Szymiec, supplemented by master classes with European luminaries including Ed Bogaard (Belgium), Oto Vrhovnik (Austria), and Michel Supera (France).

Dr. Rachwał's research integrates performance practice with pedagogical innovation, focusing on saxophone technique, contemporary repertoire development, and interdisciplinary composition. His artistic output bridges academic research and public engagement through international workshops and the Summer Academy of Wind Instruments.

Notable artistic-scholarly achievements include premiering works by Zbigniew Kozub and Lidia Zielińska, plus composing for the animated film "The Beach" (2013).

His honors reflect excellence in performance and academic service:

Dr. Rachwał maintains active performance practice through the Tadeusz Szeligowski Philharmonic and L'Autunno chamber orchestra, with significant solo credits in Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition" and Bernstein's "West Side Story". Since 2008, he has served as a musician in the Air Force Representative Orchestra in Poznań, while participating in major festivals including the World Saxophone Congress and ISCM World Music Days.
