R. Cassandra Lord serves as an Associate Professor of Sexuality Studies within the Department of Historical Studies and the Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies Program at the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM). She also holds a graduate faculty appointment in the Women and Gender Studies Institute at the St. George campus and currently acts as Director of the Black Research Network until December 2025.
Her academic journey includes a PhD from the University of Toronto. As an interdisciplinary scholar, Lord's work bridges Black studies, feminist theory, and transnational feminisms to investigate the intersections of race, gender, sexuality, and nation across the Black queer diaspora in Canada, the United States, and the Caribbean.
