Dr. Quinetta D. Shelby is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry within the College of Science and Health at DePaul University. She is a full-time faculty member specializing in Inorganic Chemistry with a focus on chiral palladium catalysts and asymmetric synthesis.
Her research focuses on using chiral Pd catalysts containing electronically anionic bidentate ligands to activate the reaction of allylsilanes with aldehydes and promote the asymmetric synthesis of homoallylic alcohol products. Dr. Shelby's work addresses key challenges in this field including the low reactivity of allylsilanes and lack of stereoselectivity in product formation. By modifying the steric, electronic, and chiral characters of phosphine substituents, her research aims to improve fundamental understanding of catalytic systems for synthetic reactions.
Dr. Shelby's publication record demonstrates expertise in organometallic chemistry, crystallography, and ligand design, with multiple publications in the Journal of Organometallic Chemistry and Acta Crystallographica. Her work contributes significantly to the field of transition metal catalysis and asymmetric synthesis methodologies.
She can be reached at qshelby@depaul.edu or by phone at (773) 325-7402. Her office is located in McGowan South 309A.
