Qiushi Guo

Qiushi Guo is an Assistant Professor at the CUNY Graduate Center and a member of the Photonics Initiative at the Advanced Science Research Center (ASRC). His research focuses on uncovering new physical principles in light-matter interactions with active photonic materials, aiming to develop scalable solutions for classical/quantum information processing, optical computing, and mid-infrared sensing. Prior to CUNY, he was a postdoctoral researcher at Caltech, earned his Ph.D. from Yale University (2019), and holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania (M.S., 2014) and Xi’an Jiaotong University (B.S., 2012).

His research interests span integrated ultrafast photonics, quantum photonics, mid-infrared photonics, and optoelectronics in quantum materials. He has published over 40 peer-reviewed papers and holds 2 U.S. patents. Current research directions include ultrafast light sources for unconventional photonic computing, next-gen thermal imaging technologies, and quantum-material-light interactions.

Notable awards include the NSF CAREER Award (2024), Feliks Gross Award (2025), and Yale’s Henry Prentiss Becton Prize (2020). He serves on the editorial board of Micromachines. Postdoc and Ph.D. positions are available via email.
