Qinghua Liu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis, set to join in 2025. Currently, he serves as a postdoctoral researcher at Microsoft Research in New York. His research focuses on machine learning for decision-making, particularly in reinforcement learning, including multi-agent systems and partially observable environments. He holds a PhD from Princeton University (2024) and a B.E. from Tsinghua University (2018).
- PhD in Computer Science, Princeton University, 2024
- B.E. in Computer Science, Tsinghua University, 2018
His research interests include Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, and Theoretical Computer Science. He is currently exploring reinforcement learning from human feedback and foundation models for decision-making. His work bridges foundational theory with practical applications in decision-making systems.
Qinghua has been recognized with the Princeton SEAS Award and a Best Paper Award at the ICLR 2022 MARL workshop. He has also held positions at DeepMind and the Simons Institute, contributing to collaborative research initiatives in machine learning and decision sciences.
He leads a research lab focused on advancing decision-making algorithms, with a lab website available for further details. While specific advising and grant information is not detailed here, his research emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to complex decision problems.
