Qiao Yang is a Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin. She specializes in institutions of knowledge with a focus on China and the Islamic world during the Mongol era (13th–14th centuries). As leader of the ‘Ability and Authority’ working group, she is developing a project on local state divination schools in Yuan China (1271–1368).
