Qiao Wu is a Professor in the Nuclear Science and Engineering department within the College of Engineering at Oregon State University, where he has been employed since 1998.
His educational background includes a B.S. in Engineering Physics (1983) and an M.S. in Engineering Physics (1985) from Tsinghua University, and a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering (1995) from Purdue University.
Professor Wu's research focuses on thermal hydraulics, reactor safety, reactor engineering and design, multi-phase flow and boiling heat transfer, and the stability and safety of Advanced Light Water Reactors (ALWR) and Integral Fast Reactors (IFR). His work also includes thermal hydraulics instrumentation.
He has received the Best Paper Award from the American Nuclear Society Thermal Hydraulics Division in 1997.

Prior to joining Oregon State, Dr. Wu served as an Assistant Professor at Tsinghua University (1985-1990) and as a Research Associate at Purdue University (1995-1997). He has also held visiting positions at Argonne National Laboratory (2001) and as a Scientific Investigator for the International Atomic Energy Agency (2004). He is a member of the American Nuclear Society and has served on technical delegations and as a technical reviewer for the U.S. Department of State.
