Qiang Shen is a Professor and Pro Vice-Chancellor for the Faculty of Business and Physical Sciences at Aberystwyth University. He holds several prestigious fellowships, including the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Learned Society of Wales. His research focuses on artificial intelligence, fuzzy systems, machine learning, and their applications in remote sensing, medical imaging, and robotics. He leads projects funded by organizations like the British Council and Welsh Government, addressing challenges in data-driven decision-making and automated systems.
Shen's academic career includes roles as Chair of the UK Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2029 Subpanel for Computer Science and Informatics. He has authored over 348 publications, with notable contributions in fuzzy rule interpolation, deep learning, and sensor data analysis.
