Qian Lu

Dr. Qian Lu is a Professor in the Department of Health Disparities Research at University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Her work focuses on advancing health equity through behavioral interventions targeting underserved populations, including ethnic minorities, young adults, rural communities, and socioeconomically disadvantaged groups. She develops scalable strategies such as expressive writing, narrative videos, and peer support programs to address cancer disparities and improve quality of life for survivors.

Research interests include cancer survivorship, psychosocial interventions, and multilevel interventions addressing social determinants of health. Notable contributions include pioneering work on Asian American cancer survivorship and HPV vaccination promotion among young adults. Dr. Lu has secured continuous NCI and American Cancer Society grants since 2007, supporting her translational research.

Key projects include randomized controlled trials for expressive writing interventions in rural breast cancer survivors and digital tools to enhance HPV vaccination uptake. Her studies often analyze symptom clusters, disparities in palliative care access, and cultural adaptation of health interventions.
