Pärtel Piirimäe is a Professor of Intellectual History at the University of Tartu's Institute of Philosophy and Semiotics. His research focuses on early modern political ideas, international law, and the intellectual history of the Enlightenment in Europe and the Baltic region. He holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge (2007) and has held fellowships at institutions like the Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study and Harvard University.

Research Interests: Exploration of natural law, serfdom debates in Baltic provinces, and the historical evolution of concepts like "natural rights" and "just war."
