Priska Daphi

Prof. Dr. Priska Daphi is a Professor of Conflict Sociology at Bielefeld University's Faculty of Sociology, Department 4 - Politics and Society. Her academic career includes roles as Deputy Director of the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research on Conflict and Violence (2021-2023) and Head of the Conflict and Social Movements Research Group (2017-2018). She holds a PhD from Humboldt University Berlin and has held visiting fellowships at institutions like the European University Institute and Scuola Normale Superiore.

Her research focuses on conflicts related to globalization, migration, climate change, and political polarization. Major projects include studies on Germany's peace movement in the Ukraine war context, societal cohesion through protests, and refugee reception policies. She leads the FGZ subproject F_06 on protests and local conflict dynamics.

Publications highlight protest dynamics, social movement memory, and coalition-building. She serves as Editor-in-Chief of Social Movement Studies and chairs the Political Sociology Section of the German Political Science Association. Awards include the Feodor-Lynen Research Grant (2015) and Ciampi Visiting Fellowship (2023).
