Premananda Indic

Dr. Premananda Indic is a Professor and Associate Chair of Electrical Engineering at the University of Texas at Tyler, serving as MSEE Graduate Coordinator. He holds a Ph.D. from Cochin University of Science and Technology (2001) and completed postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School (2004). Prior to UT Tyler, he was a faculty member at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

His research focuses on wearable sensor systems and machine learning for healthcare applications, including detecting life-threatening events in preterm infants, substance use disorder cravings, and suicidal ideation. He leads the Center for Health Informatics & Analytics (CHIA), developing technologies for health monitoring. Dr. Indic has secured significant NIH grants, including co-investigator roles on three NIH R01 grants and a SBIR grant.

He is a Senior Member of IEEE and has received awards such as the President's Scholarly Achievement Award and Crystal Quill Award. His work spans interdisciplinary collaborations in medical informatics, nonlinear dynamics, and biomedical engineering.
