Dr. Prasasti Pandit is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Rhode Island. She has been teaching philosophy to diverse undergraduate and graduate students since 2014 and joined URI after delivering guest lectures at James Madison University in 2021.
Dr. Pandit's academic credentials include:

Her research centers on the moral value of emotion, feminist ethics, and public health ethics. She has proposed a more credible form of the Principle of Beneficence in moral philosophy. Her work spans Normative and Virtue Ethics, with a focus on Indian Philosophy and its comparative analysis with Western thought. She explores ethical issues in public health, including pandemics and non-communicable diseases.
Dr. Pandit's publications over the last decade reveal a consistent focus on the Principle of Beneficence, examined through comparative philosophy (Indian and Western), virtue ethics, and feminist perspectives. Her recent work addresses emerging ethical challenges in public health, such as vaccination programs, diabetes, and the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting the intersection of bioethics and public health ethics.
