Prasanta Kumar Kalita is a Professor in the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering at the University of Illinois' Grainger College of Engineering. He also holds an affiliation with the Center for South Asian and Middle Eastern Studies. His research focuses on environmental engineering, agricultural sustainability, and climate resilience, with key interests in watersheds, water quality, and precision agriculture technologies. He has received notable awards including the ASABE Fellow and multiple NACTA teaching awards.
His work integrates remote sensing, geospatial technology, and sensor innovations to address challenges in land use dynamics, crop production under climate change, and sustainable agricultural mechanization in regions like Bangladesh.
