Dr. Pramod Nair is a Senior Research Fellow in Computational and Molecular Pharmacology at Flinders University's College of Medicine and Public Health. He leads the Computational and Molecular Pharmacology laboratory and is a Full Member of the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute. With over 15 years of research experience, Dr. Nair has established himself as a leading researcher in pharmaceutical sciences and clinical pharmacology.
Dr. Nair's educational background includes a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry from The University of Queensland (2009-2013), an M.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) India (2005-2007), and a B. Pharm. with Distinction from Bombay College of Pharmacy, University of Mumbai, India (2001-2005).
His research focuses on computational medicinal chemistry, structural biology, experimental pharmacology, and pharmacogenomics. Dr. Nair's work centers on preclinical studies including drug lead identification and optimization, drug metabolism, and personalized medicine. His research supports the development of novel therapeutics for various drug targets in neuropsychiatric disorders and cancer. He has published in high-impact journals including Nature Communications, Molecular Psychiatry, Journal of Biological Chemistry, and Molecular Pharmacology.
Analysis of his recent publications reveals a strong focus on structural pharmacology, particularly receptor structure-function relationships, enzyme inhibition, and molecular mechanisms underlying neuropsychiatric disorders and cancer. His work spans computational modeling, structural biology, and translational pharmacology with emphasis on drug discovery and therapeutic development.

His Computational and Molecular Pharmacology laboratory focuses on understanding drug targets for schizophrenia and related disorders from structural, genetic, and pharmacological perspectives, utilizing advanced computational and experimental approaches to advance drug discovery.
