Prakash Ranganathan is Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering and Director of Cyber Security Research at UND's College of Engineering & Mines. He leads the Data Energy Cyber and Systems Laboratory, focusing on smart grids, cybersecurity, and renewable energy integration. Recognized with multiple awards including the 2024 Outstanding Advisor Leadership Award.
Research encompasses smart grid optimization, cybersecurity frameworks, and machine learning applications for energy systems. Current projects include NSF-funded grid resilience research and cyber-physical system security.
Publications demonstrate consistent focus on power system optimization, cybersecurity, and renewable energy integration. Recent work explores vehicle-to-grid technology and grid attack detection systems.
