Pragya Agarwal is a British/Indian writer and academic currently serving as Visiting Professor of Social Inequities and Injustice at Loughborough University. She holds concurrent positions as Royal Literary Fund Fellow at Newnham College, University of Cambridge; visiting scholar at Oxford Centre of Life Writing, Wolfson College, University of Oxford; Fulbright Fellow at City University of New York; and associate of the Vartan Gregorian Centre for Humanities at New York Public Library. Agarwal founded The 50 Percent Project, a research think-tank investigating global gender inequalities.
Her educational background includes PhD-level studies across India and the UK, with subsequent academic appointments spanning the UK, USA, Germany, and Australia. She has received fellowships from British Library, Bodleian Library, Maynooth University, and Churchill Foundation.
Agarwal's research critically examines Gender Studies, Social Inequality, and Racism and Anti-racism through interdisciplinary lenses combining social sciences, psychology, and public policy. Her work focuses on deconstructing societal labels, bias in decision-making, and systemic power structures affecting women's health and motherhood experiences. She emphasizes translating complex social phenomena into accessible public discourse through evidence-based writing.

The 50 Percent Project serves as her primary research vehicle, complemented by creative writing courses taught at Arvon, Ty Newydd, and Irish Writers Centre. Her current book project with The Bodley Head and Ecco Books expands her exploration of identity and social labels.
