Polly O’Hanlon

Professor Polly O’Hanlon is affiliated with the University of Oxford, where she specializes in Indian History and Culture. She teaches courses on Gender and Society in India, Societies and Economies in India, and Historical Methods.

• Current research projects include a study of caste and Brahman identity formation in Maharashtra (1500–1850) and an exploration of Marathi women's letter writing during Maratha political expansion (18th century).
• Her work focuses on social and intellectual history of India (1600–colonial period), with regional emphasis on Maharashtra.
