Platte Moring

Platte Moring serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Political Science at The Citadel's School of Humanities & Social Sciences, a position he assumed in fall 2021. He concurrently holds an adjunct professorship at The College of Charleston School of Law. Moring advises The Citadel Inn of Court and manages the Pre-Law Email Distribution list for students pursuing legal careers.

His academic focus bridges political science and legal studies, with expertise derived from extensive professional experience. Moring earned a J.D. from Vanderbilt University School of Law, an M.S. in Politics and Government of Western Europe from the London School of Economics, and a B.A. in History from Princeton University.

As a retired Lieutenant Colonel from the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, he received the Bronze Star for distinguished service. Prior to academia, he held significant positions with the United States Court of International Trade, Department of Justice, and Department of Defense, bringing practical governmental and legal insights to his teaching.
