Piotr Pstragowski serves as a Program-Specific Associate Professor (Hakubi) at Kyoto University's Research Institute for Mathematical Sciences (RIMS) since April 2024, following prior affiliation with Harvard University.
His research centers on homotopy theory's profound connections to arithmetic and algebraic geometry, particularly through prismatic cohomology—a recently discovered invariant for mixed-characteristic varieties that revolutionized arithmetic geometry. By demonstrating how prismatic cohomology emerges from the even filtration in stable homotopy theory (as established by Hahn-Raksit-Wilson), his work bridges chromatic homotopy theory, motives theory, and ring spectra invariants, revealing how prime number properties manifest in spatial structures.
