Piotr Giza

Piotr Giza is a faculty member at the Department of Logic and Cognitive Science, Institute of Philosophy, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin. He has held the position of Head of the Faculty Computer Lab since 1982 and specializes in interdisciplinary research bridging philosophy, computer science, and artificial intelligence.

• Research Fields: Computer philosophy of science, machine discovery systems, philosophy of computer science, and free software implementation using Linux.

Giza has taught courses in artificial intelligence programming (LISP, Python), philosophy of the internet, and cognitive science, earning first-place student rankings multiple times. He completed his habilitation in 2007 with a thesis titled Philosophical and Methodological Aspects of Computer Systems of Scientific Discoveries and actively engages in academic conferences and collaborations.
