معرفی
Piotr Chruściel is a Professor of Gravitational Physics at the University of Vienna's Faculty of Physics. His research focuses on mathematical general relativity, black hole physics, and cosmic censorship. He has held positions at the University of Tours (1994–2010) and served as a visiting fellow at institutions such as the Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences (Cambridge) and the Mittag-Leffler Institute (Stockholm).
Education:
- MSc in Physics, Warsaw University (1980)
- PhD in Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences (1986)
Research Interests: Chruściel's work centers on global properties of spacetime solutions to Einstein's equations, black hole uniqueness theorems, gravitational wave asymptotics, and the positive mass theorem. He has contributed to foundational studies on cosmic censorship, event horizon topology, and initial data engineering in general relativity.
Awards:
- Prix Plumey de l'Académie des Sciences de Paris (2003)
- Humboldt Fellowship (1992–1993, 1998)
- EPSRC Fellowship (2005)
Key Contributions: Co-authored influential works on the classification of static black holes, rigidity theorems, and the Cauchy problem in general relativity. His books Elements of General Relativity (2020) and Geometry of Black Holes (2020) are standard references in the field.
