Pin Chieh Wu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Photonics at National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan. He previously worked as a Postdoctoral Scholar at Caltech's Atwater group (2017–present), focusing on active plasmonics and metasurfaces for light manipulation. His academic journey includes a PhD in Applied Physics from National Taiwan University under Din Ping Tsai, and postdoctoral positions at Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) and Academia Sinica (Taiwan).
Education:
- PhD in Applied Physics, National Taiwan University (supervised by Prof. Din Ping Tsai)
His research spans nanoplasmonic sensors, metamaterial near-field interactions (e.g., Fano resonance, toroidal dipolar modes), and integrated metasurfaces for polarization generation and achromatic optical components. Key contributions include dynamic beam steering, valley-polarized emission enhancement, and electro-optic metasurface tuning.
Recent work focuses on solar-driven CO2 reduction, valleytronic control in 2D materials, and near-infrared polarization conversion. His publications highlight interdisciplinary applications of metamaterials in energy, quantum optics, and environmental science.
