Pietro Lio

Pietro Liò is a Full Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Technology at the University of Cambridge. He is a member of the Artificial Intelligence group, Cambridge Centre for AI in Medicine, Clare Hall College, ELLIS, Academia Europaea, and VPH-UK.

His research focuses on Artificial Intelligence and Computational Biology for disease complexity modeling and precision medicine, particularly using Graph Neural Networks for multi-omics integration, neural signal analysis (fMRI/NMR), and biomedical methodology development across scales from molecular devices to population health.

Recent work emphasizes data integration (genomics, radiomics, EHR) and nonlinear disease trajectory modeling with applications in diabetes, Parkinson's, and the COVID-19 pandemic through machine learning models for symptom detection, ICU forecasting, and social contagion analysis.
