Pieter Belmans is an Assistant Professor at Utrecht University's Mathematical Institute within the College of Science. His expertise lies in algebraic geometry and noncommutative geometry, with a focus on computational methods and cohomological properties of generalized Grassmannians.
His research addresses deep questions in algebraic geometry, such as Bott vanishing for partial flag varieties, leveraging computational tools like SageMath. He has developed software including Hodge diamond cutter and QuiverTools, and actively participates in organizing international conferences like Modern methods in moduli and Vector Bundles on Algebraic Curves — Quivers and Sheaves.
He contributes to mathematical discourse as an editor for Experimental Mathematics and Journal of Noncommutative Geometry. His work has been presented at major events including the Stacks Project Workshop and Felix Klein lectures.
